Google has released Gboard for iPhone couple of months ago, I was actually wondering if it’ll be coming for Android or not. But today, Google rolled out the update in Play Store with version 6 of application which is previously named as Google Keyboard. But Google doesn’t changed only the name of the application but added more features to the same.
Actually I was using SwiftKey keyboard in my Zoom but after the update rolled out, I set Gboard as default keyboard because I got everything I want in this update. My requirement was Symbols on Long Press, Separate Number Row, and yeah I love that cursor control feature which can be activated by swiping through the space bar.
Above is the video uploaded by Google. Main changes included in this update:
Google Search built in: Search and share, right from your keyboard
Emoji Search
GIF search, available in supporting apps
Multilingual typing: Automatically switch between your enabled languages while typing
Streaming auto-correct: Auto-correct last two words based on context
Predictive search: Search suggestions based what you type
Default number row
36 new languages
As you might guessed, above details is taken from what’s new section in play store. Another thing is that Gesture typing is renamed to Glide typing in this update. In case you’re already using the Google Keyboard, it’ll shortly turned to Gboard obviously only if you update it.
Above is the screenshot of how the app looks and I've tried to search indian economy by pressing that G button on top-left and tapped on Share button and it's automatically appended to the text area.
Let me know what you think about this story and do you like the update to the keyboard or not, in the comment section below.
